So It's Been A While ... Explaining My 3-Month Absence

The last 3 months went by so fast! I started this year exploring food festivals across the East Coast and alternative travel methods to flying and then out of nowhere……

Me at My Farm on Closing Day!!
I bought a farm!
Now wait a minute, am I still traveling, YES, but very differently and in a way that I really felt was missing, exploring the intersection of culture and agriculture on my travels.
As you know, I went to school for Agriculture and I’m a HUGE foodie. In the settling of my late grandfather’s estate, I had a crazy idea. “What if I bought our family’s farm?” despite living 1,000 miles away in Florida. That large bit of me that’s been looking for a place to celebrate food and local agriculture, jumped at this opportunity. Who knew it would be in my hometown.
My love of self-sufficiency, life skills and self-education started here! I can’t wait to explore more amazing recipes in the same kitchen that sparked my interest in travel with international foods and cultures, after we have a working kitchen sink of course…

Yes, we have this gem!
My 5-acre riverfront farm in Pennsylvania is named Copeland Cedars, for our beautiful cedar trees on the property. If you’re interested, you can Sign Up Here to come along as I share the often-bewildering details (and cost) of renovating my +140-year-old farmhouse, restore antiques, learn plumbing and work to produce teas, natural dyes, honey, paper, candles and other farm crafts to stock my future farm store!!

Learning how to install a shower, one step at a time
My recent travels have been exploring the East Coast as I drive back and forth to renovate, splitting the 16-hour drive in the Carolinas to explore bakeries, historic towns, farm shops and small-batch artisans. Shout out to a colorful pottery region in Georgia and world-renowned stained-glass manufacturing in my own backyard, who knew! Of course I look forward to sharing gems with you.

My first purchase for my farm kitchen! a handmade bread oven.
What to expect from my travel newsletter going forward:
I’ll still be sharing my travels with awesome travel tips
I am also still promoting my travel skills handbook to help others learn and gain the confidence to travel and I’m still guest-appearing on podcasts!
Look out for my travels to highlight more agritourism focused trips, as I work to learn more about how some of my favorite foods are made all over the world! So I can learn how to create some local foods and crafts on my farm. I also want to dig into how a region’s culture influences it’s foods through history. (I love learning that stuff)
I still owe you blog posts on Miami and Charleston’s Food & Wines fests!
“I get this is a pivot from my travel tips packed posts and I wouldn’t blame you from unsubscribing BUT if you love a deeper dive into agritourism (food) and travel, of course still sprinkled with travel tips and tricks then I’m very happy you’re here for the fun!”
